The Rotary Club of Kendal South Westmorland

Kendal South Westmorland Rotary Club was formed in 1985 and meets each week at the Heaves Hotel, near Kendal. Our meetings start at 7.30pm and normally involve a meal followed by a speaker.
Social events for members and partners are arranged regularly through the year e.g. meals & entertainment, theatre visits, vocational visits to local businesses.
Our objective is to serve the local community and to support local charities by fund-raising. A significant contribution to supporting Club charities is achieved from an annual Christmas Trolley Dash at the Morrison's supermarket in Kendal. As part of our contribution to the local community, our Club has also been responsible for organising the annual Fireworks Display at Kendal Castle.
A particular focus is to support the development of the younger members of society by funding entrants to the Rotary RYLA, RYPEN and Youth Speaks programmes. We also organise the Swimathon event in Kendal. This is particularly popular with local primary schools and is aimed at facilitating fund-raising by the participating organisations, which retain all sponsorship income for their own use or for their preferred charity. Our support of young people is not restricted to the UK. The Club supports a high school in South Africa and hosts children from Chernobyl each year.
